Hey guys, I’m Sara ☺️ I am involved in the Home Kids Sunday programme, and I help out with the church Instagram.
Although I grew up in a Christian home, I would never have called myself a Christian when I first came to Home Church in 2019. Yet since that first day when I walked through the doors at Home Church, I have grown to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and have grown in my faith in ways I never thought were possible.
What I love the most about Home Church is how hospitable and welcoming the church family is. When I first came here I was not only showered in love, but given just the right amount of space and guidance to figure out my faith for myself. Throughout that process, I knew that although the church leaders didn’t necessarily agree with how I was living at the time, they accepted me for who I truly was, and believed in who God had truly called me to be. On top of that, I am forever grateful to the people who have allowed me to be open and honest about the highs and lows of life with Jesus.
In my current role at Home Church, I help organise and lead our Home Kids programme. This involves teaching our young people who God is, what he promises, and who he says they are. I believe that our children are the hope for the future, and I see it every week in all that I learn about God from them!
My anchor verse for the past 3 years has been Philippians 3:12, which says: “I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose for which Christ Jesus laid hold of me to make me his own.”. This verse just reminds me that despite everything God has brought me through, I still have a long ways to go. I want to run with passion into everything Jesus has called me to.
